Apple Cider Vinegar has been used for centuries for its health
benefits. This includes using it for concerns about diabetes, weight problems, high cholesterol, elevated blood sugar levels and even heart problems. It’s even been used for treating nail fungus, ear infections even lice, warts and more.
The most effective way to use apple cider vinegar for health is by adding 1 to 2 tablespoons of vinegar to one glass of water and drinking it on an empty stomach prior to eating. You should avoid combining it with foods such as salt since researchers really don’t know which foods could cancel out acetic acid’s effects (which all vinegar contains).
REMEMBER: Don’t drink apple
cider vinegar straight since your esophagus is not able to withstand all that
acid and it can also hurt your tooth enamel.
Understand that all vinegar contain an active ingredient known
as acetic acid. While vinegar comes in many varieties (see Vinegar
Basics article ) the only difference is that darker-colored
vinegars may contain trace amounts of antioxidants found in dark colored fruits
(like red grapes, pomegranate, etc.).
While there are many apple cider vinegar uses for health remedies here’s some examples of how to use apple cider vinegar to benefit your health:
Lowering blood sugar: Researchers have found that taking two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in water just before bedtime lowered blood sugar levels an average of 4 to 6%.
Lowering blood pressure: According to a British Journal of Nutrition study the group which had acetic acid in the diet showed significantly lower levels of cholesterol and triglycerides
Boosting weight loss: Adding two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to 16 ounces of water and drinking throughout the day may help with weight loss.
